Each country has a profile page which aggregates all information associated with that destination. This includes, all dive logs, media, reviews tagged to any entity within that destination as well as a hand written articles that provide advice on the best way to scuba dive in the respective destination.
Marine Life
Marine Animals are perhaps one of the main attractions of scuba diving. Observing marine life in its natural habitat is a highly rewarding experience and defines diving for many divers.
We currently have information on over a 1000 marine animals including pictures, size and depth.
The directory of marine animals is connected to the log book and allows divers to enter animals through a suggestive interface.
Studying marine life before or after a dive can be rather informative and enhance the scuba dive.
Scuba Certifications
Through manual research we have come up with a directory of scuba certifications of all the major certifying bodies such as PADI, SSI, CMAS etc. Scuba Diving is a great hobby but one must be prepared for the dive. Our directory would enable you to see a list of all certificates by for e.g: PADI, along with prerequisites, basic information and minimum age for each scuba certification.
You could for example want to get the SSI Dive Guide certification and want to know certifcates to get first.
We have PADI, SSI,ACUC, CMAS, IANTD, NASE, NAUI, SDI-TDI-EDRI and UTD in our directory.
Please note: we are not affiliated in any way with PADI, SSI or any other scuba body.
Divers Profile & Digital Logbook
The app allows divers to build a profile of their activity as a scuba diver which will also be available on diveadvisor.com. Only part of the functionality available of the website is available through mobile. For e.g: the dive stream, a feed of all activity posted by users or tagged to entities that you follow: e.g dive sites, divers, dive shops and destinations.
The log book allows users to tag logs to dive sites and dive shops, as well as marine life.
Articles & Underwater Photography
The articles tab displays a regularly updated feed of scuba diving related articles with a strong emphasis on underwater photography as well as marine life, scuba destinations and any anything else relevant to diving. Articles vary from tutorials on underwater photography to blog posts about a particular region.
In summary, diveadvisor is a great resource for anyone looking to maintain a digital log book, an interest in diving, underwater photography or find info on scuba certifications. Happy Diving!
